Until you think about it, just hard to imagine free falling above Mach 1, and of course the sound barrier speed changes with altitude, humidity, and temp. I remember my first back seat trip in an F-4D Phantom in Thailand in 1972 and we had external wing tanks, so couldn't go that fast - we did break Mach at 20,000 FT and did about 729-730 knots (838 MPH), a memorable experience the first time you do it.
And to imagine.....this guy went a few MPH faster than I did simply free falling, and I had a pair of J79s in full afterburner helping me - ha. What an experience that must have been for him - tks for sharing sir.
In the video, at one point he appeared to be spinning rapidly. I wish the video had an explanation of that, and an explanation of how he got stabilized.
