Wood ducks

I've been trying to catch these guys in the morning out in my backyard. Finally, success! They are extremely skittish and I can't get closer than 60 feet.

And you did catch them very nicely. I always like a photo that has male & female together. Much more interesting.

They are so colorful, I could never talk myself into shooting one of them. Lovely photo and the reflection of the head worked out nice.

Our son lives in Chesapeake, VA and we go down there often. We'll be down in July; where would be a good place to look for them?

Thank you. I do like to duck hunt, but I've always liked wood ducks and mandarins for their beauty.

Yes, I do like how the females are always less colorful. Kind of the opposite of humans.

Beautiful shots! I just love their colors.We use to get a lot of wood ducks in the Autumn but the last few years we have only a few!
