I am asking for suggestions on how I can successfully shoot my niece's wedding in this barn. They will exchange their vows in front of the window, at 4pm on June 7th. I was in a horrible panic about this until just a few minutes ago when I had a talk with my mother about this. She reminded me that there won't be snow out side then. She feels this is contributing to the brightness. She also pointed out that the trees outside will have leaves, and that they may provide some shade. So now I am in a regular type of panic.

I would like to get some shots from the back, and some up closer. Ideas, suggestions, anything is welcome.

Oh, my flash was taking a long time to recycle today. I have eneloop batteries. Maybe I needed to charge them… But it might have been because it was so cold in there. They don't heat it in the winter and it was 20 below 0 here last night. So, if my shots look a bit shaky… I wasn't expecting it to be unheated and I wasn't dressed properly for that kind of cold. Battery advice please. I can post some additional shots if anyone would like to get a better view of what I am dealing with.

Those platforms that are on the railing for the stairs will be gone. So I will have a view of the window area once those are gone. It is under construction right now. The gentleman that owns it said I can come and practice anytime when he is there working on it. I think I will wait until it gets a little warmer. :-)

Would you mind please reposting the picture with your niece with the EXIF info intact?

Why would it not be intact? What did I do?

Skip that, I had a setting unchecked by accident. Will reload. Sorry.

Your mother is right about the snow and trees (hopefully; this is MN), and that will change the balance between the light from the window and the light on the couple. There will also be more people up there, so more of the light from the windows will be blocked.

I'm not sure what software you used to create this particular file, but some have a checkbox to preserve or clear EXIF information.

The batteries are not designed to function in those temperatures. Nor are you. :-D

Are you adding pictures to my post, using some admin magic, or is the forum software being wacky (my new favorite word! :-P ).

I deleted to shot of your niece, thinking I must have posted it from my downloaded version.

I'm sorry. I made a mistake. Do you want me to delete them and add them to my post?

Please do, because it will make much more sense to anyone else looking at this, or even to us when we talk about it again in May. :-)

Are you offering one of these photos for critique? Perhaps if it's a workshop for helping you photograph a wedding it might be more properly placed in another section. Just a suggestion, and it's my understanding that all photos must be variations (crops, etc.) of the same photograph or have the rules been revised to allow different photograph in a thread? Thanks. 8-)

I think, Bmac, since I campaigned for this section, and I work very hard at keeping it running smoothly, that I know exactly what this section is for. And I am darn sick and tired of you following me around and torturing me every time I post. So knock it off and mind your own business.!!!!

And BTW, this section was originally created to help photographers get it right in the camera. It is not the PP Section. There is a Post Processing Section already. I am here asking for help on how to get this right in camera.

That is exactly the reason I wanted to have this section. You, Bmac were not the one that campaigned for this section. You may have different ideas on what you want out of a section like this. Fine, start your own section. But this section was created for the purpose of helping photographers get it right in camera. Period!

I have simply asked a legitimate question. 8-)

With the picture of the barn wall, I think you or the camera got the exposure right. How did you decide the exposure? Is the flash in TTL mode or did you set that manually as well?

It was on manual. I have been playing with it off camera, and my remotes don't support TTL. I took a couple of shots, and they were dark, so I opened up my aperture to get these lighter ones. My ISO was at 200, and I am told the 6D handles higher ISO's pretty well. I suppose I could have done that instead to get a greater DOF.
