It goes between body and lense and increases focal length. Usually by 1.4, 1.6, 2.0

OK. Also called a tele converter. That depends on the lens. They work with some lenses, but not with others.

Thanks but seen that before. Want to know if anybody has tried and succeeded with another make such as Kenko. Have read lots of conflicting views.

There have been numerous posts re. a teleconverter for this lens. It looks like this lens is not compatible with any teleconverters. By the way, don't underrate this lens--it is very sharp & can take some great images. :-)

Thanks for that. It is a great lense but I shoot a lot of birds and want to get closer.

Either a longer lens, or use the "bridge" camera with the longer effective reach.....

No longer got a Bridge camera. Will prob have to save for longer lense. Got my eye on a Sigma 150-500. Costs about £750 here though. Thought somebody might have been successful with a teleconverter though.

As others have stated, that lens will not work with a teleconverter. That lens is sharp though. Have you looked at the new Tamron 150-600? The Sigma has just dropped their pricing on that 150-500. Most likely due to the fact that the new Tamron is getting great reviews and a great price as well. There are lots of folks on here that use the Sigma and MTShooter can share his knowledge on that lens as well as the new Tamron. He just received one and will be giving us a report soon.

Yea it converts your camera from a Hasselblad to a Lamborgini quick transport system. Then to a FX4 F250 off road for ease of access to photographic sites. Ensuring your enshrinement with National Geographic!

Have a Canon 1.4… nice! Had a Tamron 1.4 with Canon mount… very nice. Kenko, not so nice. To be honest, I don't like tele-converters. You will lose quality, f-stops. etc. I would save $$$ for a longer lens!
