What bird book do you recommend for beginners.
Hi Rocky,
With there being SO MANY bird books with you saying in your message that you were also interested in "wildlife" being in the topic I would first suggest that you get Birds Of Minnesota by Stan Tekeila. That is going to be your best birding book for tracking down what you are seeing quickly if you are not familiar with a bird. As far as other bird books there are so many others that if you also want "wildlife" to be in the books that is going to have to be probably a different topic or it might have to be a "Backyard Bird" book to where it talks about both birds and nature. The Peterson Guides are going to also be just birds only.

Sibley's Birding Basics is a small useful field guide size and compliments Sibley's larger offerings.
Just Give Them The Bird! What Happens? Well What Do Ya think? LOL!

I have over 20 bird books. The one I use the most is "Kaufman Field Guide to North America" Being you live in MN check at Menards, I have seen them there. I don't like the index in Stokes bird books.

Hey Rocky, I use "Birds of Minnesota-Field Guide" by Stan Tekiela. It is pretty good and small - think Barnes and Noble would carry it. Rick

It is sorted by color and has most common birds. It is not complete, but it is the easiest to use.
