On the Fringe of the Polar Vortex - Winter Snow, Backlit Trees

Just a dusting of snow, but temperatures in the teens - I chose this, not so much for the wintery scene (not much in evidence), but for the absolute gorgeous play of light as it backlit the frosted tree branches and colored the snow a pristine white.

I agree. One should download to get the full effect of the frosted trees. Great image.

Very nice shot Bob!. What I really like is the white snow and not the blue snow that I see so much of. You might get lucky and get some more snow or unlucky however you look at it.

Bob: I suspect ice covered tree are a rare sight in NC. Its fairly common in Winter Indiana. Every now and then we have sheaths of ice and the trees look like glass. When you're driving east--the affect is marvelous !
As the Poet wrote," Ain't God good to Indiana, fellows--ain't he though ?"

Hi Bob Yankle. What a beautiful place that N.C. is. It's the nicest state for balance of seasons that I ever saw (summers a little warm, but I love it); Chapel Hill was my home. The forests are filled with beautiful hardwoods and pines and Springtime and Fall there is gorgeous. I have enjoyed seeing the State again, even if it had to be through your lens.
Thanks,
- Jim

Very pretty on the download. Trees are always beautiful when frosted, changes them into something mystical. Nice shot!
