I have read the many post here on UHH, Googled, searched YouTube, etc. and it certainly appears that PP routines seem to be a matter of personal preference. I am looking at post processing only about 25 shots taken with my D3100 and will be using PSE10. Normal issues with White Balance, Exposure, skin tones, etc. These pictures wil not be printed so a relatively quick and dirty process will work for now. Since I am new to Raw and PP my goal is to develop my own routine or say protocol for more refined work in the future. TIA.
This works with Adobe LR3 and PS CS4, so check the specs on PSE9; Adobe Raw (free plug in) will open the raw file in PS.
An alternative, though more lengthy, is to convert from raw to Tiff or Jpeg using the ViewNX software that should have come with your camera, then open is PSE.
I have seen a slight difference in the colorspace between the methods - the Adobe conversion seems to lose a little - but it is very subtle, IMHO. I'd try both (on the same shot) and see which method you prefer.
Snowbear, your answered really helped me also. Thanks
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Start at the top section and work your way down the list.
You can always hit the auto button on the RAW editor but you won't appreciate the control you will have if you do that. It's really a matter of taste, adjust until it looks good to you.
