Took some pictures of these this morning after my wife read about them in the newspaper.
According to the Columbus Dispatch these are termed Snow Tumbleweeds or Snow Rolls and for us, anyway, they are a fairly rare occurrence. The conditions required are: a cold, dry snow layer topped with a warmer wet layer in high winds. The winds have to be high enough to lift the wet layer and push it along into a roll. We've certainly had those conditions here in Central Ohio the last week or so.

LOL.....Too cold for me too. I moved back up here from Austin, TX about 23 yrs ago. I still whine about the weather every year around this time. Hopefully your daughter is well out of this mess.
That is cold. Interesting shots
Interesting, you taught me something new.

LOL....I don't get to do that often enough. A good day for both of us :D
I saw this on the TV News the other night.
Are you not sure that Yay Hootie was out there at night rolling those balls?
Beginnings of baby snow men!

If he was, he was one busy fella. These things were all over the fields around here. Erv was showing some pictures of them up in his northern neck of the woods too.
