Out of respect to Photogrl57 who started all of this, the challenge is going to take us back to the original intent, to help improve our individual photography. It should not be sufficient to take snapshots and post them. We should be challenging ourselves to produce better and better images each time we click the shutter.

Many people think that professional photographers look at a scene, take one shot and they have the $1000 shot. Nothing can be further from the truth. Sometimes it takes a hundred shots to get one worthy image. In most cases even a good image can be improved with some post production.

This challenge is to make a photograph and show the out of the camera version along with the final image after post production. Give us the camera setting along with a brief description of what you did in post production to create the finished form. Keep in mind that in order to have a great final image,in most cases it takes a good image to begin with.

Preferably new images should be used however ones from your archives will be accepted. This will take some work on each of our parts, however the results could astound and be very inlightening for all of us.

Happy shooting

Sorry about that...for the first one:

Camera Canon EOS REBEL T3i
Exposure 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture f/6.3
Focal Length 15 mm
ISO Speed 400
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

It's hard to say what i did to it, I just kind of tinker until I get something I like. I know I 'over-sharpened', then added blur, then HDR, threw a subtle texture to it, added some white vignette & a border.

For the second one:
Camera Canon EOS REBEL T3i
Exposure 0.002 sec (1/640)
Aperture f/4.0
Focal Length 15 mm
ISO Speed 200
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

First was a crop to show just the building. i don't think i like the crop because the bright part of the building is too far left, and throws the viewer off. I sharpened, added a slight HDR effect, gave everything a golden cast, brought the highlights way down, painted in some highlights in the dark parts of the building, gave an extra HDR effect to the sign, used slight Gaussian Blur on the whole image. Then I decreased the color, not quite to B&W, then added a slight texture which leaves some actual white showing through the golden tone...then added a border.

First I cropped it, then photoshopped the houses out, and eliminated the light pole. then I brought the shadows way down, oversaturated the sky, "burned" the top and right side, then added a metallic texture to the sky. Then I added a bit more saturation, then blurred the sky, then a border.

I actually just stopped along the river on the way home from work. I couldn't find anything to shoot, and I took this right as I was about to get in my truck. The original pic was washed out from the bright sun, so I made the sky deep blue, added some Gaussian Blur to the sides, along with some vignette, HDR brushed the middle section (especially the large tree), and painted in some 'warmness' to the snow where the sun was hitting it. I also exaggerated the shadows a bit so they felt a bit more dramatic. It kind of gives it a winter sunrise/sunset feel, but it was really a pretty well-lit, mid-afternoon shot.

I took out all of the houses, cars, some headstones, a mausoleum, put in some trees, and added a totally new sky. I used slight HDR on the statue and slightly blurred the background headstones. I decreased the color in the grass and darkened it. i added a strong vignette, and played with the sky, lighting & darkening in spots. I made the lamp at bottom right look like it's illuminated and cast it's glow on the headstone next to it. I also darkened & lightened certain parts of the grass to make the fake sky appear to be hitting the grass in certain areas. I also gave some of the headstones in the back certain light spots to stand out a bit, and I believe I sharpened & darkened the statue in the front...and added a border, of course, lol.

I've had people say it should be leveled, but I kept the horizon line level with the base of the staue in front, which I think works.

...thanks for looking, I'm done for a while...
