After reviewing the search section and doing a web search, I have an unanswered question. It appears that a free beta of Perfect Photo Suite 8 was recently available. It now appears that one can download a copy of Perfect Effects 8 for free. The latter offers an unlimited time of use without charge.
The question I have is rather simple, but the answer is not obvious from the OnOne website. Is Perfect Effects one of the elements of Perfect Suites that is being given away free (a stand alone subset) or are they both a collection of programs.
I would also like to know if either or both of these programs Suite and Effects) add significant value to the latest version of LR and Photoshop. I don't want to buy a program/suite just because there is no fee involved.
Thanks for your consideration.

Perfect Effects is one component of Perfect Suite, however like the other Suite components it can be purchased separately. It can integrate with PS, LR, and I believe Aperture as well. It can also be used as a stand alone program.
As to adding value, that is really a personal call. If you use it, it will have value. If you don't, then no.

I received the offer to download Perfect Effects 8, and did so. My take is that Perfect Suite is a collection of Effects, Mask and Resize. I'm confused about the various editions, however. There's a Premium Edition, Lightroom & Aperture Edition and a Standard Edition. Nonetheless, it's pretty neat stuff. I have found that it gives an artistic facet to the work, if you want to take it there.
Not much help, I know, but this is my experience.
I got the same e-mail and also wondered what the "catch" might be.
Also I read it as "photo effects"? I don't want effect I want basic editing. So yea, is it the same or equivalent to LR or even Elements?

Thank you both. You have answered my questions with the suspected answers.
Bruce, I believe the different editions relate to the programs with which it will work; stand alone, PS, PSE and LR. I believe some will integrate with other programs.
Thanks again. OnOne just doesn't make the information clear and what appears to be obvious is not necessarily so.
I recently downloaded the free "Photo Effects" and it is indeed full size and completely free. I use it as a stand-alone app. When I finish I save the result as a "PSD" file I can open in Elements 12. No damage to the original because of the name change. I suppose one can achieve the same results with "Elements", but "Effects" allows me to toggle on numerous effects to see the eventual result much faster. One very nice feature is the effects brush, which allows the operator to apply the effects to a selected portion of the image, leaving the rest untouched. Well worth the effort.
It will go into Elements as well as a stand alone at it did in my PSE 11....They supply instructions on this....Rich
I have just downloaded and had a quick play with it.
It appears pretty good with loads of effects to play with.
For free - it is definitely worth trying.
You will have to hurry though as it appears that the offer runs out on 28 Jan!
Perfect Photo Suite 8 is my most used tool after Photoshop CC. The masking tool is very powerful and easy to use. The eraser tool is also very good and I have had better results with it than Photoshop's Spot Healing Results in some instances. It does layers and is very useful if you don't have Photoshop or want to augment Photoshop.
Please note that this is for 64-bit windows only.

The free offer was for Perfect Effects - not the whole suite.
Perfect Effects is a similar program to PhotoFXlab by Topaz.
It's been a while since you posted about perfect effects and how it is free. I had a link to their web-site and downloaded it today (6-5-2014). I couldn't find the words free anywhere. I downloaded it anyway and it told me I only had a trial version and it was only good for 30 days. Can you help me to understand why? Thanks a lot

They run promotions via e-mail and the creative live site all the time to where they will give you perfect effects for free. I did that and when the 8.5 upgrade came out they sold me the whole suite for $49 stand alone version. Love the perfect mask and perfect eraser. They have tutorials at the site and on. Youtube that walk you through what it can do. You can't beat it for $49 or even $100.

When you go to their site (OnOne) click on the FREE box up at the top of the screen and that will direct you to the things that are permanently free. Occasionally they will have other time limited offers for free stuff but some of it is always free.
The purchased version is pretty good stuff. I had used the free for several months when they sent out a special half price offer to folks who had signed up for the free stuff, and that's when I bought it. Since then they've upgraded twice and I didn't have to pay for the upgrades.
There is Perfect Effects (always free) and Perfect Effects Premium (sometimes free).
The Perfect Photo Suite 8.5 is a full blown editing program. Perfect Effects Premium is just one of the editing modules of the suite.
The Suite is a sweet companion to Lightroom. RAW conversion in Lightroom, than fine tune in onOne or rough out a jpeg than finish in onOne. You should find it easier, faster and more intuitive than using Photoshop CC.
