Last night one of our members gave a demonstration on blending layers, masks and locking one layer to another to make changes to that layer only with hue and saturation etc. There was also using gradients and masks. He used stock pictures and there were two background pictures one girl (to be cut out) and some hair. We had the pictures put on our club site for any one who wanted to try. This is my effort, any critique welcome.

Very well done, but I find the young ladies skin just a tad to sharp. I makes her appear to be a china doll. In my opinion just soften the skin a bit.

On the other hand if that was your intention then its really great

Actually I like it for that very reason. The "china doll" look creates tension with the violence of the background and the drama of the hair and fasion.

I would love to see the individaul elements you started with, even is not fully downloadable if that is a restriction of the class.

Thank you klaesser for your comment, as they were stock pictures I had no control over the skin.

Thank you dsmeltz for your comment, I can put the pictures up as they were taken from a site with free stock photos to use as you like except to make money from according to Brian who did the demonstration. The hair pieces are in a psd file as they are already cut out in layers.
