Good capture of the boy. The paper is distracting in image one however; and #2 really isn't served with the excess length of the table. Your story is in the face! A warming filter would help also, instead of the blue cast you currently have. All in all, a very good start in portraiture work. Keep it up!

Thank-you Pixelmaven. I had these pics in NX2 and believe me they didn't look this bad! Most of the table was not shown in #2.

I like the expressions you captured, especially number two. For me, it's the biggest challenge when photographing children.

There's so much! I've spent a lot of time learning some of my camera's capabilities and now I have to put them to work. I just can't see shooting on auto with this tool. Having said that, I'm trying to work on composition and decided to try portraiture. I really didn't want to deal with PP, but I do need to start cropping, I guess. I'm still shooting jpeg and using NX2 which enables me to check focus points and so forth. Good luck!
