I am going to buy a Nikon 5200 kit with a 18mm-55mm lens it all so comes with a 55-300 mm lens or a Nikon 7100 with a 18 -200mm lens, which do you think would be best?
You really should get the D7100, it is a far better camera then the 5200.

well that's like saying I'm going to buy a nikon d3 or a nikon d800 . you should buy the most costly . because they tend to be better all way round .
and when it comes to cameras you really do get what you pay for . and the
d5200 is a couple notches down from the d5200 , better built and better frame water resistant . dust proof . etc.
I have owned six Nikon cameras since 1972. I considered both the D5200 and the D7100 as my seventh Nikon. Both contain 24Mp sensors, and several other key features associated with cutting edge APS-C photography. I opted for the D5200 because of the lighter weight, which I find important for macro-photography, my main passion. I doubt that the D7100 can accomplish anything that the D5200 cannot accomplish as well.
I am not a fan of kit lenses.

D7100 - if for no other reason that it has an inbuilt focus motor. The D5200 does not. Having the focus motor in camera (as opposed to in-lens) opens up more possibilities for you with Nikkor AF-D lenses (cheaper). To get auto focus with the D5200 you must also buy Nikkor AF-S lenses (with the Silent Wave Motor). Greater versatility !!
I would buy the body only, and take a lot of time to consider your lens selection. Think not only what you need now, but in the future as well. Buy good quality lenses from the outset and you'll never have to change them, even if you only buy one ! If it was me, for my first lens I'd buy the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8, the "lens Nikon never made" ......
http://www.bythom.com/Sigma17-50mm_lens_review.htmAs with all these things ..... time and effort now in thinking about these things will prove better, and less costly, in the long run.

The D7100 but I wouldn't choose any of those lenses.

I purchased the 5200 because of price, now I regret not buying the 7100 for one main reason..... Focus motor in camera not on lens ... I have 3 lens that do not have autofocus which is a pain some times but I will learn to live withit till I buy my next Nicon

Buy a reconditioned D7100, and you will save a bit.
