I just happened to run across this. I am not a big fan of the ACLU but you might find a bit of interesting information in the article.

This is the FIRST time that the ACLU and I are in total agreement. It is getting to be a scary world for me when I agree with the ACLU.

I support the ACLU with my dollars because they pursue civil liberties for ALL. Google Nazis and Skokie, Illinois. An America Nazi group, headed by Frank Collin, applied for a parade permit in Skokie. It was denied. The ACLU went to court on their behalf, probably holding their noses, because civil liberties apply to all folks, even the most noxious. Recall back to the American South in the 40's, 50's and much of the 60's. Public assemblies of black folks were routinely denied, or worse. Remember the Edmund Pettis Bridge march?

Sermon over! Here's a PDF of a good guide to photographers' rights by an attorney: http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm I try to keep a copy of it when I go shooting.

Same here. The ACLU doesn't pick and choose civil liberties. It fights for all of them, even the repugnant (to me) ones.

Railfans have been fighting this for a number of years, not so much with the railroads but with local law enforcement. In almost every case the courts have dismissed any charges.

Good article and a lot of good tips.

Rus: Would the flag in your Avatar be the 'Citizen of the World" flag? I remember something like that from my sailing days.

No. It's the Rainbow Flag of the LGBTQ community.
