I'm posing this question to the Hedgehog masses. I'm looking at the Olympus OMD 5. It comes in black or black and silver. Which one seems to be the most appealing to you?

For me black and silver has a retro look about it whereas black looks like everyones DSLR. I like the retro look. ;)

No preference. I'm more concerned with functionality than looks.

Black with all black lenses looks sleek, plus it's unobtrusive when doing street photography (or anything else clandestine in the evening or nighttime). My vote is the black, then you can mount the terrific 12-40 f2.8PRO (which is black) and have it look awesome.

I like the look of the silver, but that's just me (my epm2 is sliver). If they would have made an EM1 in silver I would have bought it.

keep in mind most lenses are black...in the end's its personal preference. Good luck, it's a sweet little camera.

Damn, CD, that rig looks pretty sweet! I do like that mix on the EPM2, but I like my EM-1 in black because of the type of finish on the body and the lens. It's actually a shiny matte black!

I kinda suspect many of us old timers like the retro look- a throwback to our youth and some fond memories. ;)

I like it too, especially because of my OM2 days, but I heard now black is the new silver (just kidding).

The EM5 I had was black and silver and it looked really cool. I loved it. My EM1 now is all black, and IT looks really cool too because it's a shiny matte black, an altogether new finish for Oly.
For the EM5, stay classic and go with the silver. You'll love it.

Years ago, you had to pay extra to have a black camera body. The black body was initially created for combat photographers (The silver could catch light and attract enemy fire.)

After WWII black became associated with "Professional" photography.

Today, sometimes any color goes.

For someone doing wildlife photography, the black will not catch the light and spook your subject. Same with surveliance photography.

It's really just a choice

Black because it will not reflect light and spook your subject.

That's an interesting hand strap. Where did you get it?
