My "girls" Annie and Allie on a dreary, rainy day
Any suggestions, critiques, etc., quite welcome

Dogs certainly know how to get comfortable.
Looks like two very happy campers.

Spoiled little girls aren't they. Critique - don't use the danged flash. It took the warmth of the photo away, blew out the highlights.Put flash in disabled and use it for fill purposes. The wall to the left is distracting as is the white area above the doggie to the right. Not sure what modes are on your Fuji, not familiar with that camera
Thank you! Tried to crop out the wall, but apparently not enough. Will try again on a sunny day without the flash. Appreciate your input.
Very sweet! If you'd like, I can practice my limited skills to cover up the wall and the patterned part of the couch. Let me know :)
Thanks, Linda -- I'm going to try and work on it a bit more myself as well. I wish they had been snoozing a bit closer together, but maybe next time. I also wish I could get them in a photo outside, but I can't hold both their leashes and take a picture at the same time :)

If you're going to give a try, I'll step back. Like I said, my skills aren't all that honed yet :)
Oh, no, Linda -- if you have time to play with it, please do so. I can only learn from what others do -- I would be very grateful.
As I mentioned in my PM, I agree with others regarding staying away from flash unless you can bounce it off the ceiling or if you have a good diffuser. I played around with your photo using some old(year 2000) software. I rushed it a bit, but you get the idea.
Fawlty, thank you -- it really does make a difference. I have limited software, but I'm going to try as well. Linda from Maine said if she had time she would try -- I see what a difference the photo makes without the light background and the pillow as a distraction. Thanks very much!!!

Get them a rabbit and turn it loose in the house. That will wake them up.
Hey, Somebody with Beagles! I was going to suggest cropping the distracting background out, but that has already been done. I especially like the nose down in the blanket.

I'm happy to see that Fawlty was able to move the dogs closer together
In the first below, I used PSE 12 to drag some of the gray couch to fill the wall and patterned area, then was able to darken the brightest white spots on their coats. That part was just a one-click with selection tool, made infinitely easier because of the contrast between the white and dark of their coats.
I did a little cloning in a free program that I like better than PSE's clone tool, to touch up around the left dog's head.
In #2 below, the vignette was created using Picasa, a free editor from Google that has all kinds of neat stuff :)
Thanks for letting me play!
