Well, the thread started by addressing a past issue on Hillary Clinton and was intended to inform us of her past character flaws. Then very rapidly went to a thread on proper spelling and the use of 'to". We wonder why Washington can't get a thing done aside from filling their own pockets with benefits and emptying ours. At some far distant future I hope we can join together and elect someone who is willing to work for what his salary is,then be a little productive and help us get out of this mess we sat back and watched destroy the country. Frankly I don't see it happening any time soon. The 'Good ol' Boys' in Washington are not going to let the 'golden calf' out of their sight until it's been bled dry. When the coffers are empty and the entitlements get turned off,and when the number of working exceeds the number of entitled, we might get the train back on track. Until then your going to pay threw the nose and your vote isn't worth the time to cast it. You can vote for anyone you like but the people that have the power to change things don't want change. They want votes and we know where the most votes are. Does anyone REALLY have an idea on how to stop the downhill slide we're on. And does anyone know of a person that's willing to help change things for the better

Please don't compare clowns to politicians. When people are thinking about liberal progressive/RINO's destroying the country, it's hard to get them to laugh...

Farnsworth, the only way to get the politicians to work for the people is to get the money out of politics. Sadly, until that happens don't expect much to change for the better.

My apologies to all of the professional clowns out there. At least they work for a living unlike our elected officials.

Well DEB.... first off WE THE PEOPLE do... it is our money that is providing for those services... Services we want and are glad to pay for.. it is the waste that we decry.

And These are the WORKING people DEB...... our Government officials... Local, state, federal do very very little.... except make laws that interfere with the "Working" people who do work. MONEY yes it is provided to some of those who do the work... but that is all.... If ALL decisions on how the money was spent was left to the Local for the most part, it would be used much better.

Small instance of what benefits I will garner from my State Government this year. Due to the Large amount of snow and the action of the state snow plows there is a 6' by 3' section of asphalt torn at the entrance to my Drive way... The asphalt being 6" thick means that I have a real CAR KILLER to go through in order to get in and out of my drive.

NOW... that is accidential, I can understand that... but I challenge each and every UHH poster to write on their calendar to question me in July, and Sept, and Nov. and find out if that hole has been patched....... WANNA BET...!

I would be very comfortable in offering a $100.00 reward to the person on here that names a Date when the hole will be patched and be correct... OF cours I will skew the contest and say that it has to be in 2014.... That way the House (Me) has a great probability of not having to pay.

The working people you refer to are city, state, and federal employees as well as contractors. Not elected officials. The only time you see an elected official holding a shovel is for a photo op. The only lifting they do is picking up their wallet packed with bribes and kickbacks. I hope that clears things up for you.

you are contradicting yourself .... it is the working people who have the responsibility of filling those pot holes .... one reason that they do not get filled ... because ... the elected officials hire working people to supervise others .... and the working people are not doing their jobs ..... you probably think that corporate CEO's do nothing either .... when I was working, my employees thought my job was easy, most of my day was spent taking clients and prospective clients to lunch or dinner .... and I heard grumblings about how easy my job was .... one day I assembled my staff and reminded them ... that my lunches and dinners brought in the business that paid their salaries .... without that business ... they would not be needed and therefore would be out of a job ..... so the moral is .... you never see what the boss is really doing because you make judgments based on limited information and a very narrow perspective ....

do you really think that they only credible labor is using a shovel ...I guess your Doctor and your children's teachers ... are not workers ... and for the guy with the shovel .... he would not have a job if were not for someone sitting at a desk, pushing papers .... who you think does nothing ...

Now you're taking it to extremes. You were more on target when using a business manager or corporate leader as examples. The ones working harder than most employees realize. I've seen plenty of examples of that. And plenty of employees grumbling about the big guys not doing a thing. Getting back to our fat cat elected officials were talking apples and oranges between business people and politicians.

IF I call the Illinois Department of Transportation (which I will) and inquire of them the possibility of getting the hole fixed... here is the answer..

Well, we will do out best, but our budget is so small this year and we are having trouble fulfilling our other obligations, so your small and inconsequential problem will be placed on the back burner... besides your mayor has a pot hole in front of his business and we MUST fix that first, besides that the Union has gone on strike and we are having to hire illegal aliens to do what little work gets done, so therefore, get your self a shovel and some hot pack and fix it yourself.... OH, and I forgot, our supply of shovels for leaning is depleted and we will be purchashing a little over 100,000 of them at a nominal cost of $782.37 each... SO THERE...
