I agree, astounding. Her subject matter is so average, something or someone we all have done. She used light and elements to create a feeling or an emotion. Truly a gifted artist when it comes to composition and to the craft itself. The lesson here is this; we do not need an array of equipment. Just a willingness to look at our own surroundings and interpet them. I also suggest you follow her Flickr link.

Stunning images. Looks like she did a lot of PP and the final products are amazing.

Key elements here are mainly good understanding of light, and experience in the use of lens that opens to f1.4 or 1.2, even. Or, if not the lens, then basic masking skills+cooperative children. For sure, she's an accomplished photographer for sure.

Hi Nate, don't you think a lot of the narrow DOF was done in PP rather than in-camera? Not that there's anything at all wrong with that.

Jack, it depends on whether she has, say, a 1.4 lens and if not, then yes, DOF-like backround w/ either Blur or masking. But, the woman is surely an accomplished photographer first and formost, and as you suggest, it could be done with modest equipment if her financial means are also modest-----we don't know. I have a Nikor 1.2 lens left from my film days and used to do what she has done via the lens when my children were smal----always shot wide open. And, occasionally, out of habit, use it as in the past re DOF.
