Birds on the Water in Barnegat Inlet.

As Promised, here are a few of the photos I took yesterday at Barnegat Inlet. The jetty is at the northern end of Long Beach Island on the New Jersey coast. There are plenty of overwintering birds there and only a few people, so it's great.
Yesterday, between the inlet and E B Forsythe NWR (see my previous post), I took 1650 shots of which I have kept only 269, 16%. You can see that I am brutal at culling out anything that is not up to my standards. How many do you cull from a days shoot? What are your standards?
Male Harlequin Duck
Juvenile Male Surf Scoter
Adult male Surf Scoter
Female Long Tailed Duck crash landing
Female Red Breasted Merganser
Common Loon in the surf
Ruddy Turnstone taking a bath

I love them all! Great series. I need to get better at culling. Some days I am tempted to delete them all and start over fresh....but of course I will never do that...well probably won't...but, might LOL
Ed, love the shots as always!
I used to keep most of my pics but as I continue to learn and develop I find myself taking more and keeping less. I often look back at old photos I took that I really used to like and thought were pretty darn good and now I would toss them.
I am trying to learn to take fewer shots and really focus on what I am trying to capture, but it's hard cause digital is free so I usually click away.
The last series of ducks I posted I took about 1,000 shots and I kept 75. Pretty hard to admit! Some days are better, some days worse.

Nice series.
Good ones - love the loon shot!
Great shots Ed! I think I like the loon the best. I was at Viera this week....shot over 600 photos in a half day. I just checked the file in LR and it is down to 59. First review I think I tagged at least twice that. If it doesn't have Wow factor or not in focus it's gone. Shooting the 7D in high speed burst also produces duplicate photos which accounts for some of the culling.
All excellent shots Ed. Really likin' that Harlequin, along with the Turnstone.

Welcome to the BIF/BOW section! I have actually been to Muskoka as I have driven up Rt 11 to the West side of Algonquin Provincial Park. It's a pretty area.

As always, your shots keep the bar raised and continue to inspire. Many thanks for sharing this series.
