Please note that I am posting this in the True Macro Section, and I am looking for critique. Obligatory "nice pic" comments are not necessary. :-)
Wow, this was hard, but all shots were taken inside my home as recommended by Nikonian72.
ISO 200, 1/60-sec at f/16, Flash power at 1/4 ( I did mess around with this a bit, so for some it may have been less.}
Dog Eye
Dried Foliage
Calla Lily flower

Pretty nice initial results. I like the downloads on the dried leaf and the calla seeds. Not quite sure what to think of the dog's eye-- I'd worry about the dog.
I've used to grow callas-- but never photographed the seeds. I like it. What kind of diffusion are you using on your flash?

I wasn't
and I've already been told to use one. Oh, on the leaf, I had my flash off camera and I was shooting through an umbrella. I had a hard time gauging my light with that, so I gave it up.
The dog was fine. She was just a little annoyed with me. LOL
Now I can't even get the dogs in my family to pose for me.
I agree with Allen abot the nice results. Shadows are strong, it might be better with softer shadows. I think that is why Allen asked about diffusion. Is your flash on a bracket off to the side or over the camera? Not only do I use an external diffuser I also use the flashes built in diffuser and the diffuser (a strip of material secured by velcro) inside the external diffuser. If they made a good beauty box in a small size I would use it.
Now for the real serious stuff. You have used your dog in other photos. Are you paying your dog well? Are there sufficient treats to meet the union minimums?

Not only your first 1:1 macro post... but your first "Bazinga!"
You are on your way....

The 6D has no on camera flash, but I was using the 550EX on the camera for the most part. I am going to buy that recommended diffuser today. Was that you that told me to get it, JRB?
This dog has a King Size Bed, and the people are just luck that she allows them in! LOL
And if you saw her rotund little tummy, you'd know she's getting her share of treats. It's a point of contention in the Nightski household.
Not too much exaggeration. :-D I have that flash diffuser, but somebody said it wasn't very good and to get this scoop diffuser. Yay! I have what I need. :-)
Okay, if I have that thing on my camera I am going to scare Zoe! LOL Did you see all the doo hingys it holds? Holy cow, I've never seen anything like it ... but I am intrigued. :-)
What is that light they have hooked to it? Do you need the bracket to hook it to the hot shoe?

On mine the bracket is attached to the bottom of the camera, the armature is attached to the bracket, then remote trigger then the flash, the soft box is velcro'd on to the flash.
In the picture of my gear on the macro site you are seeing my original setup. It is much cleaner now. No wires, no blue tube, no ring light, no battery pack.
