Can't post to gallery

Something has screwed up in my computer and I can no longer post to the gallery. I keep getting an error message. File corrupted possibly? I can post to other sections such as this. It seems to be just the gallery that's affected.

I don't know enough about computers to be able to find the problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

It sounds like you've posted before, so you know the procedure. Have you tried posting different JPEGS? Try very small sizes, although that shouldn't matter, since the pictures get reduced in size as needed. A reboot might help.

I've tried a number of different things but to no avail.

This is what I am getting right now when I try to post a photo: "The error could be the result of a variety of things, from typing errors in the web address to DNS issues with the requested web address. Check the web address for typing errors or check your internet connection to ensure other web addresses are accessible."

Everything was working fine up until a few days ago. Very frustrating.

When you look up the word frustrating in the dictionary, they should have a picture of a computer.

I bet someone will have an solution.

Can you try a different browser, and also try to select a jpg from different folders/locations on your computer than usual?

1 Are you still subscribed to the Gallery - it is possible that you have accidently unsubscribed yourself
2 Can you post text into the Gallery, find a recent post and add a comment such as "Good job" or whatever is merited
3 log off and then log on again, press the refresh button once you are back in (Windows) or the equivalent if there is one for Mac)
4 Post a picture into Analysis, then click "Report Issue" and request the post be moved to the Gallery. Keep an eye open for the move (usually within 24 hours) and check the image has moved properly.

If you are able to post pictures in some places in this forum but still not the gallery and your pics follow the rules - jpg, under 10 MB etc then it is probably the link to the gallery which is broken. Reboot your computer, try again, double check you are sending a jpg of small enough dimensions, refresh, if still no go, report back, I have one more trick up my sleeve.

I've done the first three things you suggested with no result. I haven't tried #4 yet. I think you are on to something when you say the link to the gallery may be broken.

I'm going to try a different browser and see if that helps.

Thanks

I see you have posted "Great Shots"

If the second browser does not work try this:

Create new topic in the Gallery,
Select (highlight) the line at the top of the screen which begins "http://www.ugly. . ." copy this link and paste it some (Word or Notepad)
Type in some text "Picture follows" or similar.
Close the Gallery
Open the gallery and find your post, click "Add attachment" browse to you jpg and try the up load.

Whilst uploading, (or error messaging) select and copy the address line again (http:// . . ." ) and if the image fails to load, compare the two links.
