"The only stupid question is the one you don't ask." How many times have we seen someone post that comment here, encouraging members to ask questions even though they are afraid that others will poke fun at them?
Yet, day after day, I see people making rude comments to questioners because - well, because they have a question. They imply that because someone has a particular type of tripod, camera, or lens that he should know all about it. When he asks a simple question, people ridicule him for his lack of knowledge. "Why did you get something like that if you don't know how to use it? Are you trying to impress someone? More money than brains?"
This is a great place to get information, but if people are turned away by senseless, rude comments, they won't learn from us, and we'll miss the opportunity to learn form them.

Totally agree with you, if the responder thinks it is a waste of time for the OP to ask the question, why is the responder wasting even more time saying so. He should just move on and stop wasting everybodys' time. Better still, if the responder does know the answer, he could spend a precious few seconds in answering with an "expert" opinion.

I certainly agree with you, something similar happened to me on another forum - well said.

Agree with both.
I don't get why anyone would go out of their way (i.e. spend time posting) to be rude. It's like crossing the street to spit on someone.
Totally agree with the comments. Even "What camera should I buy?" deserves a courteous answer.

Well said everyone.

Well this was a stupid post...
:)
I totally agree with Jerry.
And the other irritant in the same vein is "This has been discussed many times here. A simple search will give you more then enough information." Is that really helpful? I've often tried using the search engine but it's rare that I find exactly what I'm looking for because the original question and corresponding answers probably met the OP's specific question but not mine. Most responders are genuinely helpful but "use search" is not. JMHO
