Today I was out shooting some birds, but when I checked the results I saw that after a certain point all of the shots were blank: pure black. I checked the exposure details for them, and nothing had changed: RAW, ISO 250, aperture priority, f7.1 and shutter speed in the area of 1/500th. I tried shooting with a different lens, and with a different memory card: same result. The camera has stopped producing an image. Plus when I turned on liveview that was blank too. There is the sound of a shutter activation, but nothing on the screen.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks for the suggestion; tried it, same result. Grrrrr... I suspect the shutter is shot.

Thanks for that. Sounds like the same problem, but after reading that I am tending even more to think the shutter is gone.

The shutter is most likely your problem, but take the battery out of the body overnight and recharge it. Try it again tomorrow. Sometimes that can re-boot a weak shutter and get some life out of it again.

This sounds like a shutter failure. This happens all the time to literally all DSLR's.

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help.

I'd be more than happy to repair the camera for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message or simply reply to this post.

I see that coming in the future. "Get the New Canikon D1000D. Just $29.99 for the first year's activation."
