This has been a slow winter bird season for me so far ...lack of snow and warmer than normal temperatures has led to fewer than normal woodland birds feeding. Combined with long hours at work and short daylight hours I have not been very successful so far this year. So I thought I would redo some shots from the past few years and see what you think of them. These are several Black Capped Chickadees from December 2011.

Very nice pictures. Since I don't know the names of many birds, when I see a small one I call it a finch.

Thanks Gusto. We do have Redpolls here normally. They are a member of the finch family.

Thank you Gregory. They are, like most woodland birds, flighty, fast and small, but beautiful little birds.

Superb shots. Especially like the light on the wing on the chickadee in number three. Beautiful!

Thanks AJ. These were taken with my 100-400. I have a new 500 mm ...all I need are the birds and some decent light!

Thank you very much Treepusher. The third shot I used to make my wife's Christmas card in 2012. It is one of the few I have printed.
