It is too cold to go outside, so I found something shiny to play with. The weather better break soon, 'cause I have a shiny knife to play with next. ;)

Please feel free to edit.

Have to admit that the concept 'too cold to go outside' doesn't really compute for me at the moment. But I know the cooped up, want to take some pics I'M BORED!!! feeling so I hope the weather does break soon because the knife sounds scary. (or maybe a great pic) Love the concept of this pic and the reflections really work. But there is a battle going on for me. The crinkled colour and its reflections in reflections are so dominant and interesting that they are drowning out the form of the sieve thingy. IMO the sieve needs to be sharper and slightly more saturated so that its not lost amongst the reflections. Doesn't change the fact that I love the pic. I kinda hope that its doesn't warm up because I can't wait to see the knife.

If you resort to the 'knife thing', make it slicing a steaming hot loaf of homemade bread.

So you are sitting around the house, bored out of your tiny mind, suffering deeply from S.A.D., so you decide to shoot Objects Found Around the House. KEWL!!  I so wish I'd thought of this first! My wife has one (it's a flour sifter). I love the picture! The background reflected in the highly polished sifter makes it look translucent—even transparent—so it becomes a mysterious what-is-it shot. I like the very fact that it is somewhat lost among the reflections, like you can see right through it. The more I look the better I like it. Very well thought out and executed. Great shot!

Thanks for the responses :). I was kinna thinking I wanted it to be more…three dimensional, so I added a little blur to the background. Good change, bad change, indifferent?

1. I'm not sure where my eye is supposed to go: to the center of the object or the elsewhere.
2. The purple color monopolizes the image and, for me, distracts from its impact.
3. The angle of view is awkward; would be more effective at eye level rather that above the image.

Otherwise, a gutsy attempt at something of which I'm not sure!
