My FA needs new light seals, and a good cleaning. No one local will touch film cameras any more. Any recommendations for where to send it?

Thanks,
Dave

The following link will provide a list of Nikon authorized repair outlets in various states. For an old FA, it is probably best to have a Nikon repair outlet to do the work. But get a quote first!

Garland Camera and Repair, Garland, TX has been in business for a long time. I still need to take my Canon ftb there to be repaired. Here's the link.

Classic Camera repair will do a good job on ANY camera. I've had him do repairs on on a 75-year-old Zeiss folding camera as well as some rare cameras made later. He is fair, honest, and keeps you informed. Write him at classiccamera@comcast.net.

I've used Strauss Photo Technichal Service in DC (now in MD) for an A-1 and a 50 year old Voigtlander Vitessa. They are a first rate company.

If you haven't found another place, you can contact Tempe Camera in Tempe, AZ. They are a full service camera store (old fashioned...lots of chemicals and film) as well as new stuff and have a full service repair shop.

Probably much cheaper and faster to keep yours for parts and buy another exact same model.

I recently dropped my camera and noe the lens won't zoom down all the way. I went to Blue Moon photography and they told me they only work on film type cameras.

That makes no sense at all because the seals deteriorate due to the age. So if you buy the same model of approximately the same age you have the same problem. Check with Rick:

As mentioned earlier it's easy to replace the seals yourself. They can be purchased from Fargo Ent./Microtools. About a 15 min. repair. Also replace the pad at the top of the mirror cage that is basically a mirror bumper while you're at it. Be sure to scrape off as much of the old material as possible. Get the seals with adhesive backing. Makes it easier.

I second Tempe Camera. Expensive, but good.
