What is your best tip?

Two of mine are:

1. Always face the front of your camera to the floor when changing lenses. This helps to keep dust off the sensor.

2. The little silicone packs which are included in packages are great to toss in your camera bag. They will help absorb any moisture that might occur.

If you have to take a picture of an extremely back lighted subject, just point the camera that way, put your hand in front of the camera, take a reading, and go from there.

Focus is the only thing that cannot be "fixed" in PP. I've fixed under/over exposures, glare, unwanted items in frame, etc. etc. but still have photos that would have been perfect if not for focus errors. WOULD have.

If you're going to be out shooting for an extended amount of time, poop before you leave...seriously.

I use those lens cap holder things, one of the best things I've ever bought. It has the sticky disc to stick to your lens cap, and a strap that goes around your lens...not only does it prevent you from losing your cap, but reminds you to put it back on if switching lenses.

Switching lenses is the only time I do put the lens cap back on. A lens may be on one of my cameras for a few hours or for a few weeks, but it doesn't need a lens cap until I remove it from the camera and return it to the camera bag. In between times, the lens cap stays in a specific pocket of my photo vest, so I'll be able to find it when I want it.

I leave my lenses on my camera until I need to put a different one on, but I always have a cap on the lens. Without a cap on the lens, don't you get dust or a film on the lens?
