This is my first time posting in this section. I thought this might interest some of you. I think this hawk must have escaped. The first time I saw him I couldn't figure out why he had such long feathers by his legs. When he landed I realized it was leashes (jesses) on his legs. He/she seems to be doing okay. I have seen him in about the same place for the last couple months. He does not want me anywhere near him. Will he continue to be okay with the jesses? My concern is that he could get them caught on something. I want to thank everyone for all the information you share on how to get BIF shots.
You did an excellent job with these two shots, Terri. Well done.
Wery well done, #2 is awesome!
Nice shots.
Good, sharp images. I wonder if someone was doing falconry and the bird got away?
So this is just an uninformed opinion - once we found an unfortunate juv red tailed hawk that had been hit on the road. We stopped because I wanted to see if the bird happened to be banded. When I moved it to the side of the road, I had a chance to see what up close what the talons and beak are like .... they are most impressive. So .... I wonder if the hawk could chew through the jesse if it really needed to?
Stunning images, Terri! Would be very interested to know its story.

Thank you so much Joe!!! I wish I had not clipped the wings in the first shot. I have to laugh at myself because if I had gotten a picture like this awhile ago I would have been really happy, now all I see is what I did wrong. LOL. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate your comment.

Thank you very much John!!! I really appreciate your comments. I also wanted you to know how much I enjoy looking at your macro shots. I just got a macro lens. I haven't used it much but maybe it will get me away from BIF. LOL

Thanks Linda!!!! I would sure like to know what happened to him. He had to of escaped from someone. He is so nervous when I come around him I wonder if he was abused. If so I'm glad he got away. In the first picture look at the shadow of his claws on his tail feathers. I liked that. Again thanks for all your support, it means a lot to me.

Thank you for your comment!!!! I really appreciate it. I do think someone was doing falconry and he got away. I just hope that he knows how to take care of himself. He seems to be staying healthy.
