Happy New Year all! I finally decided to take my photography up a notch and read the manual to learn more about working in complete manual mode. I have been a real novice for years, but knew some basic photography from using my dads old 60's era Pentax file camera, and then going to a point and shoot. I purchased a Nikon D90 kit a couple of years back for Sports photography - my son is a Baseball player - and have had some good luck with pics of him at bat (darn hard to time the bat hitting the ball even a 4pics/sec!), and fielding etc. This was done simply by using A/S priority modes and preset WB.
Now that he is soon off to college, I need another photography hobby, so it seems nature pics itself will fill the void! I have been studying custom WB, exposure, flash etc. A new world has opened up!
I hope to be a contributor to this forum and continue to learn from you folks here - Thx!

Hi wrinch. Welcome to the hog, and also happy new year. Why not just take the camera out and shoot anything that catches your fancy. There is an entire world out there. Have fun and keep shooting.
