Every day I look at all the fabulous pictures posted here and wonder all the time what LENS did they use? I want to expand on my lens for my Nikon D7000, currently I have the 18-55 and the 55-200 kit lens, and bought a 18-200VR that I have used for years and hardly take off.
Any how I am getting off the question of when we post pictures why don't you let us know what Lens you use. That way we can get an idea of what that lens is capable of.
Since I hardly see that, am I stepping out of bounds asking that question???
Just saying, I would love to know.
If the image is downloadable you can usually go to the exif data and get chapter and verse. Problem is, a lot of hoggers don't tick the box when posting.
Usually all you have to do is ask.

So I am not getting to personal if I keep asking? I really am interested because I want to purchase a couple of new lens and really want to see results not just suggestions. I am more of a show and tell kind of person.

I often ask. Most folks are happy to tell you. I cannot see the EXIF data when I view the forum using Google as a browser. Obviously, others here can so I'm assuming they are using different browsers.

I agree. It's nice to have this info when learning, but often times the end result is a bit misleading due to post processing. So are you really seeing what the lens is capable of, or are you seeing what the photographer is capable of with that lens?

Same here, I use Google and that info would be wonderful, would save a lot of asking. :|
I have frequently had people ask me what lens, camera, settings etc. I used for various photos and I don't at all mind passing along the info.
But at the same time I'm not sure how helpful the information is or if it even really matters all that much.
People take lousy pictures with top quality, high dollar gear all the time, and some take terrific pictures with modestly priced, beginner gear often as well.
I know a wildlife photographer that uses a Canon 800 which is a $14,000 lens and I think his photos are nothing special. They are just closer shots of a bird's head, he rarely shows action and the photos to me are boring.
Are the images sharp? Certainly. But are most people going to run out and buy a $14,000 lens after learning that's what a person used to take the picture?
There is I think, more involved with getting good shots then what specific lens was used.
There are the obvious details such as a $2,000 lens will pretty much always take a sharper photo then a $200 lens.
I would think that one of the only times what lens was used matters is if someone consistently produces excellent results with a moderately priced lens.
Finding out that a photographer used a $6,000 lens on a picture is information of limited value I suspect.

In my case...I wouldn't mind what you asked...I tend to say it so that nobody has to ask....but I'm not always consistent at it.

one person had 1/2 the right answer...when he talked about the amount of post processing....the other 1/2 is that when viewing on a computer screen....just about all results look the same, no matter the lens.....when turning that capture in to a large print however, poorer lens will then show themselves....
I think you just proved moxiesmom's point. With no information or downloadable images, we have absolutely no idea of how these were done, or what you're trying to illustrate, or why you posted them.
