Perhaps the biggest challenge with eagles at the dam is getting the optimal lighting. I wish I could have got better lighting on this eagle

Nice shots 1 - but the proper exposure and PP will help ....
Pretty! Don't you love the "dirty head" look of those almost-there juveniles? :)

One of the frustrations of Conowingo is that, despite the fact that there can be anywhere from 50 to 100 Eagles there, they are often very sedentary. They occasionally chase one another around if one gets a fish so you have 5 hours of boredom with 5 minutes of frantic activity. But, OH the pictures you can get if you are lucky and ready!
The other frustration is that the light is seldom very good. Early in the day the sun is in front of you. As the day progresses, the sun gradually moves behind you but you lose it early as there is a hill behind you that begins to block it about 3:00 PM.
Activity often results from the dam generating electricity which is rather erratic in its scheduling and duration. the Eagles feed on the fish that have been drawn through The turbines and killed or stunned.
Despite that, you did get some good shots! If anything, Conowingo Dam will teach you patience!
Thanks for the advice and understanding - I concur totally except that I do not have your extreme patience.
I look forward to seeing some of your Conowingo postings
