Just got my new lens before the New Year, and these are just a few from before the start of the New Year. Hope you like them.

You are gonna have fun with that lens. I can tell already. Congratulations on the new glass.

I think someone or something broke it. If you zoom in on the top of it you can see some remaining bee nest? holes. Hopefully the OP will elaborate on it.

The thing in the tree is actually a paper wasps nest. Normally they don't get that big, but seeing how it went undisturbed throughout the year, they were able to get busy.
Delta? Hotchkiss?
Looks like an old Paper wasp nest or hornet nest in tree.

Looks like a paper wasp nest. How close to that monster were you? Good thing the weather was cold, the colony doesn't survive freezing weather.

It's about 15' up the tree, and I was about 3' from the tree. Just glad thatiit's winter too.

That is a hornet's nest. They are common here. I got stung by one between my eyes. Not your common wasp sting.

Here in Colorado, they are called paper wasps. I actually have a few pictures of them. I'll try to find them on my backup drive, and then post them.
