It appears that the $300 rebate on the Canon Pixma Pro 100 is still on !! B & H is now showing it good until March 31st 2014.

I can't understand why Canon would do that. Are they making a profit by selling it for $99? Is American Express working with them to make money?

They want to get as many printers on the market as possible because they make TREMENDOUS profit selling the proprietary ink in those tiny cartridges! That's where the profit lies, not in the printer.
Jerry, They make a ton of money on ink !! The more printers out on the street, the more ink they sell !!!

8-) 8-) 8-) You are mistaken my friend. The rebate of which you speak is $98.00 mail-in rebate for a net price of $300.00. Just slightly different than $300.00 off, don't you think? :lol: :lol: :lol:

Thanx MT, the add read showed $98.00 off the first time I read it. The rebate is actually a credit-card type good for purchase @ B&H or Canon. Still a great deal. I have been waiting for this machine. :lol: :lol: :lol:

The "Credit Card" is an American Express rewards card and is good anywhere that AmEx cards are accepted. I bought two of these printers for quick use in my store and spent the AmEx cards for food, clothes, groceries, gas, a little of everything. No restrictions on them at all.
Reward card

Oh, is that correct that the rebate can only be used at B&H or Cannon? Not that those are bad. But, does anyone here have the rebate and can confirm one way or the other?
Thanks,
Regis

I'll outsmart them I won't use my printer! :D
There is also a $300 rebate on the PRO -1. A more expensive printer, but with better blacks. It has 12 separate cartridges compared to 8 on the 100. Yes it is A LOT more expensive ($600 more.) The complete ink packages are as well ($119 vs. $359) Individual carts are $16.95 for the 100 vs. $ 35.99 for the 1. But some reviews say the long term ink cost is lower for the pro-1 (I am not sure how that works, but
)

Per print costs are impossible for the average user to figure out.
RedRiverPapers set up a test where they printed the same large batch of a "typical" print through a selection of photo printers and measured the ink used. It may not be accurate to the penny, but it might be as close as anyone can get.
http://www.redrivercatalog.com/cost-of-inkjet-printing.htmlThe Pro-1 appears to be a little more expensive per print than the Pro-100, but not much.
