...apparently, the Beagle's trip to the Galapagos was a liberal plot to undermine the Bible and the Constitution.

Senator Ted Cruz’s father has said the theory of evolution is a communist lie — “one of the strongest tools of Marxism.”

Ted Cruz' insanity is one of the strongest tools to insure a Democratic victory in 2016 and beyond.

I once heard a theory that Ted Cruz was actually a Democrat working undercover to undermine the Republican Party.
If that's true he's doing a damn good job. If not, then he's just plain nutz.

Ya! He ruined his reputation when he jumped up and down on Oprah's couch and keeps spoutin' off all the Scientology crap. When he divorced Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes his popularity went on a downslide.

Darwin was a devout Christian and agonized over squaring his discoveries with his beliefs.

He couldn't have been a true Christian, otherwise he would have never entertained the thought of evolution. To begin with what he found was adaptation of species to different environment, and food supply.

Why is it so hard to even consider that God invented evolution??

So if Copernicus were a Christian we would still think that the sun revolved around the Earth.

Yes..and being a Christian has nothing to do with whether you take the Bible literally.

Darwin did not think up evolution. His discoveries lent scientific support to the theory that had been about since the ancient Greeks. He merely reported what he'd observed.

His observations were that of an Atheist, not a Christian. And God did not create evolution, #1 there has never been any solid evidence of evil-ution, But there are scads for creation.

If evil-ution were a fact, why? is it not on going, since it is not, it is not a fact but fantasy. Just like Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and men evil-volving from monkeys.  So if you believe some stupid Ape was your Great-Grand-Father, that is your problem, not mine. :)

His observations were impartial. He tried very hard to resolve the conflict between his Christian beliefs and what he had witnessed. There is loads of evidence to support the theory of evolution but as far as I'm aware none to support the theory of creation. The theory of evolution does NOT say that humans evolved from apes. It says that apes and humans share a common ancestor. As for evolution not going on now, it's taken millions of years for us to get to a stage where we are able to even think about it, what changes would you expect within recorded history?

In 1879 John Fordyce wrote asking if Darwin believed in God, and if theism and evolution were compatible. Darwin replied that a man "can be an ardent Theist and an evolutionist", citing Charles Kingsley and Asa Gray as examples, and for himself, "In my most extreme fluctuations I have never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God".

I disagree, I won't even agree .5% of .5% that you can believe in evil-oution, and be in a right relationship to God.
Those think so, are self deceived. The Bible states that each form of life, was designed by God to recreate its self in like form. The only thing Apes and man have in common, is the same creator.
