I have a 6D with a 18 to 200 and a 6D with 24 to 105. When should I use one or the other. Now I use the 60s for sports and the 6D for landscrape.

Well, the 18-200 on a crop gives you a 35mm equivalent angle of view of 29 to 320mm , but the 6D with a 24-105 will capture much wider images which may be more useful for landscapes. The 6D has significantly better low light performance, and the 24-105 is a significantly better lens than the 18-200 as well as being a bit faster with a constant f/4. In many lower light indoor sports situations the 6D might work better than the 60D combination. Finally while the 6D is rated to a relatively slow 4.5 fps, the 60D's 5.3 fps is only .8 fps faster. While one advantage of the 60D is the faster shutter speed of 1/8000 second, in just about every other respect the 6D is a superior camera body. If it were me I would sell the 60D and the 18-200 and purchase a Canon 70-200 mm lens and use the 6D with it and the 24-105 for everything. Now if you had a 7D rather than a 60D my suggestions might be somewhat different.

Why are you using an EF-S 18-200mm lens on a full frame sensored body???

If you read the text again I think you'll agree that he intended to say 60D.

No idea what he "intended", all I can read is what was written, I am not psychic.

His second sentence said "Now I use the 60s for sports and the 6D for landscrape." I presume he meant 60D rather then 60s. The D is right next to the S on the keyboard. While he had a couple of typos it seemed pretty clear to me what he meant.

I own the 60d with the 70-200 f/4L. This combination is not conducive to poor indoor gym/ arena lighting. The 60d is extremely noisy at high ISO but you need the fast shutter speed. Hence, the trade off. I've mounted my 17-50 f2.8 and the fast aperture is fine as long as you are focusing on one athlete up close or several from a good distance.

I would use the 6d with the 24-105 for indoor. It is the perfect range for an indoor track meet or school gym and it's high ISO performance is stellar. I'm saving up for the 6d myself!

mwsilvers...What would be your answer for someone like me who has a 6D and 7D. I'm not as happy with the 6D, which I've had for a couple months, as I thought I would be. I shoot mostly weddings, portraits, events and family shoots.

Exactly what are you not happy about? The IQ? the low light performance? The maximum shutter speed? The burst rate? Can you be more specific? What lenses are you using with it. In what ways do you prefer the images from your 7D?

Well, I've had my 6D for a month or so now and frankly I'm not impressed. I like the fact that it is easier to handle and lighter than my 7D, but beyond that it's not an upgrade from my 7D. The burst rate is about half the 7D and does not perform as well as I would like it to in AISERVO mode. With only 11 focus points it lacks the performance needed for action. The 7D far surpasses the 6D in that area. The wi-fi and GPS introduced in the 6D, to me, are not worth using it as my primary go to camera.I was using the 6D with a 70-200mm and a 24-105mm. I guess if I use the 7D and 6D for my weddings, I'll put the 70-200 on my 7D and the 24-105 on my 6D interchanging with my 50mm.

Gemlenz, somehow this seems familiar -- and your reasoning is sound. Each camera (I also have both bodies) has its usefulness. I use the 6D to back up an EOS-1N (FILM!). The 7D I pair with a 60D for other work.

But, on the other hand, if you want to stir up the FF vs APS arguments, nice work!
