Hi Everyone! Lets see anything and everything that is about WINTER!! What is winter like in your area or anywhere. What reminds you of winter.
Winter in Southern California is pretty much dry, cold and bright. We don't get mcuh snow, rain or even fog where I am at....so yesterday I had hubby help me find snow to start of the challenge but boy was it a challenge. 1st went went to Mt. Baldy..so snow there (I think his brain was still in Utah where he did most of his growing up) then we trekked to the mountains of Wrightwood...some there but ended up at Jackson Lake! The lake was partially frozen but not enough to walk on it. Also almost everywhere we did fins snow had signs saying "No Snow Play"...whats up with that..LOL...have fun & I hope you enjoy the challenge!!!
Oh & when I stated joining in on these challenges there use to be a link to a song...I am going to try to attach one that is about California and winter...I hope it works!

Perfect start for a California winter day. Love the Mommas and Poppas.
Leaves are finally changing and...
... falling around my neighborhood.
My own red oak after a few nights in the 30's.
Just one or two from the archives for now. My most favorite winter shots! Will come back tomorrow and post more! Goodnight!
It's quite a winter, over here, this year.
& today I did something very special. I stopped snow flakes with my camera. I did it on a zoom or two. I don't remember doing that before.
Now, I've stopped drops of water in river or water falls pics lots ( since I finally got a camera and the film speed to do it). There is something more substantial to a drop of water in comparison to a snow flake.
& where they are is Orwell Corner Village Living History Museum.
http://orwellcorner.ca/ In the summer they have little livestock for those who walk the village - piglets, calves, colts, ducklings, goslings............ to go with the Blacksmith's Shop, the one room school, to make it great for families with little ones and all after the implements building.
& these are three of the living exhibits.

The last Bushido is a great B&W work
Winter!!! Humbug!! Enough! , already. My first photo really represents the ongoing theme of this Christmas season here in Nb. 'Power outages'. No wireless or telephone service all day yesterday. The cause of so many outages? A freezing rain storm: a couple of pictures show the result of this rain storm.
another sign of winter can be seen in the change in plumage of a few birds. One such example is the white flecked winter plumage of the Starlings ."star carried nomenclature
with brown-edged shale layered tail
and snow flecked winter plumage"
My main concern throughout all of these storms we have endured is providing food for the birds. We have about 10 different species arriving daily to feed in Bird Alley.
Christmas Eve was spent in candlelight due to a power failure
An optimistic Red Squirrel searching for food among the ice coated branches
the freezing rain turned this feeder into an ice cage
a Starling's winter plumage
a snowy Goldfinch
A chickadee during a storm
A snowy perch for a female Northern Cardinal
A Mourning Dove upon a snowy branch
Tree Sparrows finding food within the snowy ice cage.
