Can any Nikon users recommend a nice, reasonably priced, wide angle lens I can use on my d3200 and also on my future d7100. Thank you :-)
Samyang/Rokinon 8 mm lens (ultrawide) fits the description.
Tokina 11-16 f2.8, you can usually find one on Craigslist for @$500.

Agree. Would also check KEH for previously owned and B&H and Adorama for both new and used. ;)

Yes. A good lens for a good price.
Nikon 12-24mm (try eBay used).

The lenses recommended above are generally for landscapes and would not be suitable for, say indoor shots of people (too much distortion). For an all purpose wide angle get a zoom that starts around 30mm or 35mm.

What is the difference between Nikon and Nikon AE? Which one do I need for my 3200?

Sigma 10-20. Probably the sharpest lens I own.
Hi,
I have a Samyan 8mm fisheye but I do not think that it is a good quality lens and I would not recommend it. Fousing at times is not great but you can have fun with lines.
I also have a Tamron 10-24mm, which has been a good trusty wide angle lens. It is not the highest quality and sometimes clarity is not 100%. If I had the money I would get the Sigma. However it is a good, relatively cheap lens which I use on the D7000. It is great for all landscapes but especially, sunsets and water shots. The only big downside is that I have Cokin Z filters which do NOT fit. Although COkin say they do, I have to zoom in by 3mm to get the filters to fit.
I would agree with Banjonut above. The sigma is great.
I have a 28mm fixed portrait lens which I love. It's just fab for portraits in any setting.
The one thing I have learnt from buying lens is : DO NOT BUY CHEAP. You'll regret it and feel crap about the photos you take.
Good luck :)

It is better for you to have the Nikon AE version, it is newer and the camera gets more info from the lens with this version making it easier to use.
There is another comment about this lens here which I do not agree with about it being not so good. I would say that this is the best lens available that is wider than 10 mm at any price. However there have been comments about that focusing ring needs adjusting on some of those lenses to make them focus correctly. This I can confirm as I had to do this with my example to make it focus correctly. But after this adjustment, which I did myself, I must say it is a wonderful lens. Also you must keep in mind that it is a manual focus lens and you need to focus by turning the focus ring with your fingers to get images in focus. Those who do not do this will not get many pics in focus with this lens!
If you are seriously interested in it I would recommend you try it out before buying if possible, and if that is not possible then look at photo sites with images taken with this lens and reviews about it.
For my part I highly recommend it.
