I spent most of last night reading the manual. This afternoon I ventured out around town with no destination in mind, other than the goal of shooting something more than the dead leaves and sticks in the woods surrounding my house. Here are a few of my first shots! Mostly straight out of the camera, with the exception of a little cropping for composition only.

I like the way the colors snap in the first one. Not so keen on number 2 but it is in focus. Looks like you are going to have a lot of fun with that camera.

WAIT a minute when I started typing the first one was a water scene, now it is the plant.....??????

I like this shot. It has some color to it and the detail is nice. Only caveat is that the background is a bit busy. Tough to focus on what is the actual subject of the composition. Have fun with that great new camera. I applaud your patience to be able to read the manual first before going out and shooting. I usually shoot until I can't figure something out and then I consult the manual. Backwards way of doing things, I suppose.

Ha. Sorry Jethro. I wasn't really finished and couldn't load all at once. I am assuming you were talking about the bouts that were from a distance. I didn't mean to post that one…posted the last one instead. Thank you for your comments.

with what lens if possible? I think the combination of lens and camera model makes more sense since both put together make the photo.

I think you ran into the same issue jethro did…I wasn't finished posting. By the time I saw this, I had rearranged and deleted and reposted. But thank you for your comment! Yes…the first bout posted was too busy. Didn't mean to post. That being said, my only goal this afternoon was to simply shoot to get used to the autofocusing system on this camera.
The only reason I read the manual first was because the battery was charging!! Then continued to read and shoot while in bed late at night:)

The pile of ropes and the dead weed (flower) was a 40mm, 2.8 STM. The others were 18-135 3.5 STM.

I like them all with the exception of the barn shot. Nothing there that says look at me but the others, very nice. I agree with Jethro, you are going to have a LOT of fun with that one. Who knew that rope could be interesting.

Yeah, you know you're right. Actually, if I pulled the shot out more, you could see just how desolate the barn looks…it's in the middle of nowhere, high up on a hill. I thin a further shot would make it more interesting int his case. Thanks!

Out of all 5 the one with the milk can just screams look at my definition. It is probably the sharpest picture posted, and brings back memories of loading them into the milk truck that came and picked them up when I was a kid.

People seems to be getting the wrong end of the stick in making comments about the images. She is only testing the camera out, not creating prize-winning images.

Thank you posting. I will be upgrading to this camera shortly and am pleased to see it handled the focusing and exposures nicely. Have fun.
