I have been reading the UHH forum for about a week now and there is a lot of good information here. Everybody seems to be pretty friendly.
I am posting today because I am trying to decide on a new camera body. I have a Canon T3 with a 24-105 lens that pretty much never leaves it. If I spend the money on a new body, I would like to have something that has better performance at higher iso like 800 - 3200. From what I have seen on DPR, there doesn't seem to be much difference in image quality when looking at the comparisons between my T3 and the 7d and 60d, but I haven't found a way to do a direct comparison between my T3 and the 70d. If I am missing something, please feel free to point out the error of my ways.
I have seen the jpeg comparison on
http://www.imaging-resource.com, but I don't know how relevant they are because I don't usually shoot jpeg. I would appreciate any advice anyone would like to offer.
Thanks a bunch and Howdy from Texas!
Go to google search and type in compare Canon T3 & 70D.
Welcome to UHH cbmullins. Sorry, can't help you with your Canon question as I shoot Nikon. Sure many Canon users will come to your aid. Enjoy the forum and have fun. Good luck on your upgrade.

Welcome. I too am a Nikonian, but I certainly have great respect for all good gear. You have found a very nurturing place. Post some pictures in the gallery and you'll be surprised at all the good advice you'll get to take you to the next level. Haven't seen too many haters here, I'm sure few exist, but the vast majority of folks are just so nice!
I have looked at Snapsort a lot and Googled it also without a lot of good answers. I know the 70d has a newer processor and a higher Megapixel sensor, but I was trying to find something with actual raw images to compare.
Welcome CBMullins. The link below to a Wiki entry won't do a comparison for you, but it will help you confirm the insides of the 7D and 60D are the same sensor and processor. The T3 shares the same processor but a smaller sensor. You'll experience a marked improvement in ISO performance on the 70D as compared to the T3 / 7D / 60D generation of Canon technology (an upgrade to a DIGIC 5+ with a larger sensor too.)

Welcome! I have the T3i and enjoy it very much - have not used a more expensive DSLR so can't help you with a comparison.
Hope you have fun on this informative, addictive site :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Canon_EOS_digital_camerasThanks for the link. It does seem to back up with what I have see on some sites that the picture quality alone of the 7d and 60d isn't a reason to upgrade. The 6d, however, is a different story.

Hello and welcome to UHH.
Hi CB,
If you decide on a new camera body......A Full frame sensor is, IMHO, well worth the few extra $, £, Yen...
I use a Canon 5D Mk 2. coupled with the 'L' series lenses you have a top class piece of kit that can hold it's own for quality anywhere against all but top end Medium format equipment !
Best wishes for 2014. Norman
Hi welcome to the UHH. Your T3, is much like my 50D, well used with a high shutter count. Moving up at this point to a 60D, or 7D, would give you a little advantage. Moving up to a 70D will move you up a lot. The 70D is totally modern technology. It has a newer sensor, which is larger, and much more modern, along with a bunch of better functions. But, if you have the time to wait, I'd give it a few months and see what Canon comes up with as far as a new 7D II. Or, a new full frame system. Go to Canonrumors.com and take a look at what is coming down the pike. As far as lens goes your lens will fit anything Canon makes.
