Late September HDR Sunset Photos of Texas State Capitol

The first two photos were taken from the west with a tripod during a warm, yellow sunset. The closeup of the Goddess of Liberty was with a 55-300 Nikkor maxed out. The other two pictures of the Capitol were with an 18-55 Nikkor, the sideview at 24mm and the head on down the driveway at 18mm. I tried not to over process these, but capture the way I remembered the evening. These were done before some excellent advice at UHH suggesting I need to turn off the VR on the zoom lens when it's on a tripod to minimize vibration. They are a tad fuzzy when zoomed to the max, but I like them pretty well at regular resolution. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did spending the evening capturing them.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. Incredibly, 30 seconds before, the drive was full of people. I was at the Temple of Karnac on the Nile in 2008 and there were literally hundreds of people all over the place. But my pictures looked like I was the only one there. Don't ask me how this happens, because I don't know. Kinda spooky, isn't it? I just loved the yellow light that evening, it was perfect...

Howdy, Mr PC. Welcome to the Group. You're really going to like it here. We're all a little crazy, some more than others, but we don't bite [too hard, anyway].

Great set of photos here. What real Texan wouldn't like them? I like the 3rd shot. Your processing is right on the button. However, looks to me like the horizon it tilted on the last shot. Straighten up a little and it will be perfect.

Have you tried any of the NIK plugins yet? You should really give them a try. You can download a 30 day free trial. Google to offer all of Nik's software plugins for $149: http://connect.dpreview.com/post/4452357456/google-nik-software-plugins. :-D :-D

Keep up the good work.

Been here since last December and lurked around awhile before joining the group. Have really liked the mostly positive attitude here, seems like rotten apples don't last too long before they are run off. Most other forums I follow have lots of flame wars and other trollish behavior. Not here. Most criticism is constructive and it feels good to pay it forward when you can help the next guy. My HDR skills are steadily improving, I only first started last summer when I got my D5200. As for leveling that 3rd shot, (which I like a lot too) I messed with it and there's enough distortion in the kit lens that I don't know if it will ever look quite right. I have learned some new Lightroom tricks since back then and you've encouraged me to give it another look.

Like them all. Good job.

The last one with the walk and trees leading to build is my favorite.

Next time I get to Dallas I shall have to take a look at the building. :D

I know, I know just kidding it is in Austin.
