Thanksgiving Trip - My Grandson

Myrtle Beach SC is a long ways from Anchorage and since the purpose of the trip was a my wife's family reunion, I limited the gear I took. Most of the shots ended up being taken with my 5Dii and 100-400 mm lens. The weather was horrible and the subjects tended to be on the other side of marsh regardless of which side I was on. But since I had no photos of most of these birds, I am a happy camper.

The weather finally improved the late in the day before we were to leave. My grandson had never seen the ocean, he is two and a half. Of course, with warmer temperatures, more sun and almost no wind he decided to take a nap and not wake up until sundown. Snapshots at best, but they made his grandmother happy!

Good shots...I know you didn't have a choice but my favorite time to visit Myrtle Beach is October, the weather is still warm and the beach and restaurant's are not crowded.

The light on the breaking waves is sensational in #1 and love the candids of your grandson.

You are correct sir. When I taught at Clemson University and my in-laws first retired to Myrtle Beach was a frequent destination and late fall and spring were great ...lot's or golfers but not much more.

Thank you Caro. I had not expected to be taking scenics and did not have a tripod so I was very much happy with the shots I got. The pier is at Cherry Grove in North Myrtle Beach. ...as for the grandson, that will teach me to always carry a flash, a faster lens or both.

Thanks Linda! He had a ball and promptly turned blue when we made him come out.
