Which would you get and why, if you didn't have any legacy lenses whatsoever? Clean slate, starting fresh.

I would get what I did get: the Nikon D610. The price and features are just right for me.

I'm reading everything I can about the OM-D E-M1 I can find, and am very seriously considering that camera.
Stopped in the camera shop the other day and had one in my hands, it feels right as well.

(I am in the fortunate position that I can use my current lenses, albeit with an adapter).

Nikon D4 or D800E, because I don't have one of these. :-)

I don't believe the OM-D E-M1 is a full frame sensor....

Oops... you're right, when I replied, I only looked at the OP's message, not at the title. The OM-D E-M1 is a micro 4/3 camera, 4/3 sensor.

I've got the OMD EM-1 but I'm thinking I want one body that's a full-size. All my lenses are 4/3 or m4/3, so lenses aren't an issue here. I've had a 5DMkii and didn't like it, gave the lenses I didn't sell to my daughter. I've got a clean slate and am thinking Nikon, Sony. But my camera guy says his results are best with the 5D Mkiii and the new 24-70 f2.8II L.
I really like the D610, though, and I know MT Shooter's a D800e guy. Maybe I'll look at that big sucka too.

D4X specs? Just the Q&D, please.
(quick and dirty)

Actual specs under wraps until the release in time for the winter Olympics. Suffice it to say that it will be spectacular.......and expensive.

The D800e would actually be more than enough for my needs, the D610 might just be perfect. The D4X would be driving-a-nail-with-a-sledgehammer type of overkill.
Does the D800e have a built-in flash?

Yes it does. Used primarily to trigger off-camera flash units in Commander mode.

Nikon DF. And, even though it is not full frame, Olympus OMD EM-5 or EM-1.
