The mountains are the Sierra De Almijara in Southern Spain, and the Pass leads from Costa Del Sol through the mountains to Grenada.

Cheers John. It was away from the crowds here, this was taken from our Villa, Only went to the coast a couple of times & had my wallet nicked in one of those to Malaga?

Nice composition. The dynamic range is very good too. This is the look I go for naturally, but I usually have to resort to HDR or a bit of Lightroom magic. Well done!

I love it Geoff:

The sky is so powerful, like an army going through the pass. I wonder how many armies actually used that pass. Great shot, as always. Happy New Year,
Moshe

Thanks a lot Mr PC, This was taken with my Canon 5D3, RAW file, F8, 1-400sec, 100-ISO using pattern metering, converted in Photoshop RAW and the tweaked a bit in Elements 12. I do use Lightroom some times, but that's a matter of choice I suppose.

Thanks again

Geoff

Thanks very much mosbenav, I would imagin many ahve used it for some sort of attack or defense at some time possibly non more so than the Moors. The Moors invaded the Iberian Peninsula in 711 and called the territory Al-Andalus, an area which at different times comprised Gibraltar, most of Spain and Portugal, and parts of France. The religious difference of the Moorish Muslims led to a centuries-long conflict with the Christian kingdoms of Europe called the Reconquista. The Fall of Granada in 1492 saw the end of the Muslim rule in Iberia.

Thanks again

Thanks a lot Linda, Kind words indeed. It wasn't always like that, back in the 70s & 80s I really only took sport photos, but now days I wander the Downs and Seashores in the UK and nip across to Europe quite a lot, so there is much diverseness of scenery to get stuck into.

Thanks again

Geoff
