Looking for user opinions on the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8. Mainly shooting grandson's t-ball games and family member informal portraits. It will be used on a Nikon D5100.

I bought the SIgma 150-500. It has VR and I absolutely love the lens. At motorcycle races I don't even use a monopod, I just hand hold. Monopod might just be a good idea, though. That way I might get even more keepers.

Hmm ... you might want to review your post.

Why is it that when someone asks for information and advise, people post a whole heap of unrelated and unhelpful rubbish.

I read something about a compatibility problem between Sigma lenses and 2 models of Nikon. Can't remember the details but it might be worth checking out prior to making a big purchase.

The Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 is a very nice range fast lens for the crop sensor bodies. It gives you a similar range to the 70-200mm f2.8 on the full frames but at a considerably lower price. I like the lens and its fast, but might be just a little short on focal range. The up side is that its fully compatible with Sigmas 1.4X and 2X telecoverters, even on your D5100.

Same goes for me. Fantastic DX lens, great build quality, sharp even wide open. I even use it with the 1.4x teleconvertor with confidence it will give me great image quality.

The OP asked for user opinions. Do they all have to be as long and as negative as your post?

The OP asked about 50-150 f2.8 Sigma and a couple of posters decided to rubbish on about 150-500 Sigma lenses. Even you seem to struggle here.

It might just be an American thing though.

The OP asked about a 50-150 Sigma lens and you posted "get it. love mine.." and posted an out of focus shot taken with a 150-500 Sigma. A completely different lens and seemingly unsuited for his purpose. Another poster also went on about a completely different lens.
Even down under we know the difference.

Not the one you jumped on.

What does this have to do with nationalities? You must make your fellow countrymen - most very fine people - ashamed of your nationalistic bigotry.

Not a lot. Just that a trend here is for some posters to get it absolutely wrong, on many levels.
Even you stated that it was not the poster I referred to that got it wrong when in fact it was he who posted the shot of the moon, taken with a completely different lens.
