From Peach Photo. All for $1599.00. Is this a good deal, or are most of the lenses crap? Would it be better to buy the camera body for about $800.00 or so, and spend the other $700.00 on a couple of really good lenses? This is really more than I would want to spend, but if it's a good deal, I may could stretch!

I'd stay away from a deal like that. Most of that Zeikos stuff is likely junk.
Stick with a reputable seller like Amazon, B&H, Adorama or even Best Buy.
Right now Amazon and BB have the 60D with a
Canon 18-135 lens for $1,070.

I've never heard of Zeikos and figured it was mostly junk. Saw the body only at B & H for $899.00. If I get that, will need to figure out the best lens. This camera will be for my son. He will graduate from HS in May, and wants a really good camera. He's forever taking my T1i!

That's the best way to go. Get the body and decide on a quality lens or two. Build a nice system from the ground up and everyone will be happy!

I'd stick with the two Canon lenses (18-55 & 75-300). Those have the general range he may need for most things. If you go with off brand lenses look into the Sigma, Tokina, & Tamron lenses. I've used Sigma lenses in the past with my Canon 35mm and got good results. I've read many posts on this and other photo sites and you basically get what you pay for, but you shouldn't have to break the bank at this point. I've seen packages with just the camera and all the basics (software, warranty, instructions . . .) plus basic lenses, so just shop around.

I would go body only then p/u either the sigma or tamron 17-50 f2.8 that is a good fast lens.

Try this site for a review. I do not find them listed as a valid US reseller at all. Zeikos? Yes, that is all Chinese imitation crap, plain and simple. Stick with a reputable retailer and get a genuine product, you'll thank me later.

Thanks for the feed-back y'all. I figured it was too good to be true. He graduates in May, so I have a few months to save my money, and he can save his money from his part-time job, (as well as graduation $$!) and between us, we can probably get a pretty good set-up.

Hmm? I have a hard time buy kits and crap. What do you want to accomplish? How much do you know about photography. Why buy want you don't know how to use. Consider the T2i by Canon body and get a lens somewhere else.

I'd stay away from that one. The first 11 items are the usually supplied in the kit.

As for the extras, the Canon 18-55 IS is a kit lens, it is a nice lens, but nothing special.
The Canon 75 - 300 is another of the good lens, but nothing special. I have a couple of them, they're worth about $90 - 100 or so. Add another $20 if it says USM or Ultrasonic.

That Long Bower lens looks just like my Opteka of the same length. A lot of people don't like these, but it will take good pics with a lot of patience, either a rail set or 2 tripods to hold it steady, and full manual operation. No electronics in this unit.

I'll trust Swamp Gator's opinion of the Zeikos stuff. I ain't a fan of the 2x or wide angle stuff that screws on front of the lens.

Right off the camera with the Opteka version of the long lens. Cool, but leaves a little to be desired.
