How do I operate a Wintec WBT-202?

Merry Christmas to All and to All A Good Photograph

I recently purchased a Wintec WBT-202 GPS Logger. This is supposed to give me the ability to integrate GPS location data with my photos in Lightroom, even though my camera doesn't have GPS capabilities. The idea was to carry this device with me thoughout the day. At the end of the day, I could get the data from the device into Lightroom and thus have the GPS locations for the day, synced up by time of photo and time at locations.

It sounded good. But I cannot figure how to make it work, and the instruction booklet leaves a lot to be desired. Can anyone here direct me to a better manual, or some sort of software integration that'll enable me to take advantage of this device's alleged strengths? Thanks.

I can sympathize. I have a BT-1000XT GPS tracker. It gets the coordinates and transmits them to a separate receiver that plugs into the camera. Still, I have to read the directions to get the system to work. It's nice, though, having the locations added to the images and then seeing the locations displayed on a map.

When you get it figured out, write clear directions for yourself so you can reference them later. Maybe put them on a card in your camera bag or wallet.

This seems like a tough unit. Here's a video of a guy driving a car over one.

Hmmmmmm. If I don't get this figured out, I may be tempted to do that, myself. Thanks for the input.

You can drive over it, but it will keep working and taunting you. :D

If I recall correctly, you connect the unit to the computer and set it up. When you turn it on, it will track and record your locations. You connect it again when you get home and upload the data. Lightroom and other programs can plot those points on a map. You have to tell the logger where your images are on your computer, and it matches the time on the logger with the time on the pictures.

Hopefully, someone will have more details, but I would keep playing with it and look at any menu choices it offers.

I guess that's what I'll have to do. I'm in the process of moving, but when I get some time freed up after the first of the year I'll tackle this project again.

Thanks to everyone for the input.
