The White House "Christmas Card"

The Obama family Christmas card has been released – and for the fifth straight year, it makes no mention of Christmas, Jesus, or the Bible. Instead, the card depicts a pop-up of the White House, with this message: “As we gather around this season, may the warmth and joy of the holidays fill your home.” The card is signed by President Obama, Michelle Obama, Sasha, Malia, and the family’s two dogs, Bo and Sunny.

This follows the Obama family’s pattern of Christmas card secularism. In 2012, the family’s “holiday” card featured Bo and the line, “This season, may your home be filled with family, friends, and the joy of the holidays.” In 2011, the family featured a picture of Bo with the line, “From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season.” In 2010, it was an Obama holiday card, too, this one with the line, “May your holiday be filled with all the simple gifts of the season, and may your new year be blessed with health and happiness.” In 2009, the card read, “May your family have a joyous holiday season and a new year blessed with hope and happiness.”

By way of contrast, the Bush family’s 2008 Christmas card carried a quote from the Book of Matthew.

At least he isn't accused of including a quote from the Koran.

Political correctness rules.

Everyone who got this care should mail it back to Obama and say, "No thanks"!

I didn't get one. What am I, chopped liver? There are other religions besides Christianity. I think it would be out of place to promote one over the other. How did Jews feel about Bush quoting the New Testament? How would Christians feel if a Jewish president sent out a card that wished a Happy Hanukah to everyone? Just askin'.

I have Jewish friends that wish us a Merry Christmas and I wish them a Happy Chanukah. No problem and no hurt feelings. :-)

The majority can never understand the issues of the minority.

I personally think this political BS has gone way to far. I don't feel offended when I get a card from a Jewish friend celebrating a Jewish holiday. I don't get offended when I get an advertisement or card from another religious faith other than my own. So I say to the one's that are offended be offended if you must but, "get a life".

No such thing.

That's a made up phrase to distort the meaning of the actual intent of our founding fathers.

The document actually reads:

Quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst_Am1.html

This provision was put into the constitution to protect people from governmental intervention in their religion or establishing a state religion.

It was not meant to prevent government from having religion in it.

Well...everyone is offended by something...but who cares?

The provision that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" doesn't mean that nobody in government is able to voice their beliefs, or that they should stop being public about what they believe if someone's feelings are hurt.

That's a modern idea...that if someone is offended then no matter what their hurt-feelings trump my constitutional rights.

That may be because sometimes these issues have no "fluid" attached to them. Pun intended.
Only the insane, or crazy, understand the insane or crazy.
Political correctness + no logic + no valuebase= current political viewpoints.

Yes, but he inaugerated torture, violated the Constitution in many, many ways, sent the country into an economic spiral that we still haven't come out of.

He killed 8,500 American soldiers and contractors, and 750,000 innocent Iraqui civilians. He wire-tapped the entire country, read our e-mails, pilfered our bank accounts, and copied our hardd-drives, if he wanted to.

But a cheap Bibical quote he probably never saw made up for everything.

Then again, he was white.

My previous comment stands. The Demorats try to defend Obama by blaming Bush and everything else. How about telling us why you think Obama is so special and what he has truly done since taking office to help this country? I just can't think of anything.

OB is responsible for bringing the most beautiful First Lady into the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt.
