How very magnanimous! He receives a pardon for a "crime"• that he never committed. He helped shortened the war by at least two years and probably saved hundreds of thousands of lives and all he gets is a pardon. The man deservers a Knighthood at least

He was the victim of narrow minded bigotry. A true genius.

At the very least, will never happen, though. ( cannot be a dead Knight, for one thing) He ought to have some award.

Not of course that the good old US of A doesn't have it's own share of bigots and senile leaders.... McCarthy, Hoover, Bush et al....

At least over here we do get round to trying to correct our mistakes.

But the problem with calling a differing standard of morality from your own "narrow minded bigotry" is that now you are a "narrow minded bigot" when it concerns standards or morality that differ from your own.

You've done exactly what you accuse them of....and your statement bites you back.

Without and unchanging ultimate moral standard, then this is what it comes down to ....just basically preference of one society's morals over another...vanilla or chocolate...just a preference.

The Queen made an exception on this occasion and she do so again and make him a pothumous Knight in the New Year's Honours List.

All records of this shameful sentence should be erased and he should be remembers only for his achievments.

How easy it is to judge yesterday's actions against today's standards!

Yes, fortunately we live in more enlightened times now, but that is no excuse for what happened to Turning. His livelihood was taken away from him because his security pass was revoked and this in spite of the fact that what he achieved was of major imprtance that probably saved hundreds of thousands of lives. This is what the bigots of the time did to reward him.
