To me, the side by side comparisons of cameras are like the computerized boxing matches between two fighters who have never met

Well......You have 2 choices.
You can either ignore it and any references to it.
OR, you can help it be better by using the 'Report Correction' about 1/4th of the way down the page.

Reliable source, not overly...you have to take it with a grain of salt. Most of their scores are based on a popularity contest. I usually use it to compare physical dimensions, and the DXO performance.

I figure it's one of many resources to compare cameras. Users and reviewers are other resources. Snapsort might put more value on a certain feature than I do, so I just see what they have to say.

Yes, I should probably give them some slack, it's not like I can't check other references on the specs. Sad thing is, I keep going back to Snapsnort for information grrrrrrrrrrrr....is that an addiction? :)

Yeah, one should kick. Go to DPReview first. They don't seem to hold their punches.

the times I've glanced at Snapsort the site seems to be real short on meaningful information so I normally pass it by. Whether you're looking for evaluations of cameras or any other consumer product I'm real suspect of any site that accepts free products from the manufacturers for a "test." If they do, they normally will pass "reviewing" a real dog (if they want to get any more freebies). I am also not sure that any smart manufacturer would supply a product for a "test" unless they've really checked it out first...so, it may not be typical of the item you might get. The only evaluations of real value are where the tester actually goes out and buys the product at retail and then tests it. I've noted in major camera magazines where they have a product "test" they also have a big ad for the same product somewhere in the publication. We all know that there are real duds out there in any consumer product line, but have you ever seen a "test" where it was revealed the item was a real "p-o-s"? I haven't...

Actually, PZ does a very good job evaluating camera gear objectively. They rent most of their equipment, and I've often times read that something is a POS. Of course, they don't come right out and say this, but the meaning is the same.

Of course, my rule of thumb is to never rely 100% on just one review.

I like TechRadar for reliable reviews of all technology including cameras (http://www.techradar.com/)
The one I prefer is (http://www.ephotozine.com/) because the reviews are very thorough and use the same format each time.
I also look at Snapsport sometimes, DPReview I don't use due to the black background it makes it hard reading.

Never recommend them, but do read from time to time. I think it's a good place to look to get an overall view of the comparison, but have always followed it up with other more serious reviews. Have learned to take most reviews with a grain of salt. Most reviewers are never really critical of the flaws. Have never seen a review that actually recommended not purchasing a particular camera or lens. For the most part, they seem to like every product they test.

I am a newby and have been lurking for awhile just trying to learn. I bought a bridge camera 6 or 7 years ago and didn't even know it - I bought it for its zoom capabilities. I am now looking to learn about photography and have been agonizing over what to buy to assist my learning curve for months - d7100, 70D, em1, k3/k50, nex6, and on and on and on. I have been using snapsort to COMPARE but it is a flawed site. I can use it to compare size, weight and other things but to use their scoring/rating system is a joke. I don't care if a camera is "more popular" - and that gets a kazillion points. It seems that the dxo ratings are a bit funny as well and contribute to points. They will list a comparison with missing data which will give one camera a default win. And what really annoys me is that their comparisons do not use the same criteria from comparison to comparison. That said I have only found one other site that gives side by side comparisons of the different cameras out there. The other site I have been using to confuse myself is DPReview (which seems a bit better)- BUT if there are better alternatives PLEASE SHARE! I am taking a junior college digital photography class starting on the 7th of January and I am hoping that that experience will help me chose the right tool for my needs.

When you make your buy, please let me know. I also have the d7100, E-M1, and K-3 on my short list, and am wrestling with the same decision. Thanks.

Thank you! A terribly inaccurate site. Constantly getting specs incorrect and their scoring system is next to useless as they allow comparisons between apples and oranges.
