It seems that the EN-EL15 battery depletes very quickly ...much quicker than the EN-EL3e on my D300s ... is anyone else having the same problem ....

Not at all. I usually get 1200-1500 shots from a charge in mine. Less when its really cold out, but still many more than I ever got from the EN-EL3 in my D90's

I've had my D800 for a year and it has done ok. But for the most part it doesn't get heavy use all day every time I use it, but if I go out for a day it seems to do ok. I do carry a spare but have never had to swap batteries.

The battery life in my D800 is great. Are you shooting a lot of video or use the LCD a lot?

No problems with mine. I get over 1,000 photos IF I don't use the LCD. Using the LCD takes a lot of power.

Hi I am not having that problem at all, I have accidentally left it on for days, and battery still good.

No. Both the Nikon one and a $20 replacement I bought last for quite a long time...a month or more if I'm not doing much.

Do you have automatic previews turned off?

It is possible you got a defective battery. Even ones labeled as Nikons are subject to early failure. Buy a $20 backup on Amazon and see how it does.

Does your spare deplete quickly too? (camera problem)

If memory serves me correctly, there was a recall on some Nikon batteries awhile back.

I recently bought the camera and several spare batteries ... I will check all of the batteries I own ..... I went out shooting on Friday and was surprised at the number of pictures I took vs. the battery depletion percentage ..

Check your battery condition in the "Battery Info" line of your shooting menu. The condition, age and number of shots taken on the battery will be listed. If not, you have generic or counterfeit batteries.

I have three and I've never needed more than about 1.5 in a day. Yours may be defective - get a new one and use this one as a backup.

Thanks ... as always ... you know your stuff .... I tested the camera with a Nikon battery against the Watson I bought from B&H .... there is much better performance with the Nikon ... I guess I should not have tried to save a few dollars

There are some exceptions, but for the most part cheaper products produce inferior performance. Third-party batteries are not the exceptions.
